Does anyone have any experience of using an acheeva bed for change of position in a mainstream setting?

I support a pupil who uses a powered wheelchair and is due to move into Y7 in September.  Physiotherapist is suggesting using an acheeva bed in classrooms to minimise the amount of curriculum missed while the pupil has a change of position.  I have used in special school so understand the benefits of the equipment but I have reservations about logistics and reaction of other pupils.  I would therefore appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience of using in a mainstream setting.

Many thanks

Hi there

I am sure you have thought of this already but my first point of call would be to talk with a pupil about this - working with them rather than to them. Do they want the bed with them? Do they have a solution? Does the next school have already experience of it and what did they learn/either that school or any other secondary in the area. Good person to ask about it is your PD Specialist teacher - they would have seen it all.

Hope this helps - good luck
