I am sorry to hear this... there are quite a few ideas online such as this pack on the TES website:

https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/disability-awareness-for-children-11174359

https://assembliesforall.org.uk/assemblies/international-day-of-persons-with-disabilities/

You may also find that individual charities for various conditions may have resources.

we have a list of useful resources for disability awareness I can share with you if you email me at jo.lambert@essex.gov.uk

What is the age of the pupil?

For KS1 I like using the storybook Elmer to explore the idea that we should embrace our differences.

A strategy I have used for all age-groups is working with the student & a few of their peers to create an assembly/lesson along the lines of 'we are all different, we are all the same' - please contact me directly & I can send some anonymised examples

thanks for the ideas everyone. I am looking for suggestions for secondary schools. I have 2 now that have had incidents of bullying and so a motivational speaker / role model would be good if anyone has any names?  The schools are willing to pay!

Also not sure if anyone saw the BBC doc by Ellie Simmonds last night about the new drug for dwarfism. I thought that brought up some interesting points for debate...plus she is such an inspirational young woman.
