Has anyone got any good examples of how it is being used by nurseries?

I know a pre-school who are going to put in place a handrail and step in the toilet area.

Thanks Tracy. That's interesting to hear that they have spent it on the environment. I can't seem to find any criteria on  how it should be spent. I was originally thinking of adapted bikes etc but the child will soon outgrow this; but I guess a bit like in your case could support future children..?

Anyone else have other ideas?

As DAF is only £615 per child per year, one suggestion is that nearby nurseries could pool this and purchase more expensive items to be shared as appropriate. Apart from reasonable adjustments this could presumably be spent on some extra support staff hours, or targeted training, for example.

Questions about DAF are:

how is DAF spending audited to ensure it is actually used fully and appropriately for the named child?

how does the LA or the ESFA (or the DfE)  identify good practice in spending DAF?

will the LA or the ESFA publish spending guidelines (these do not seem to be available currently (although the EFA, predecessor of the ESFA, said in 2016 that they would be doing this))?
