Just wondering if I could touch base with anyone who has had success with having specificity around access arrangements stated in EHCp and the type of arrangements e.g. Extra time for SATs, Rest Breaks or whether it is difficult to stipulate in advance?  My pupil already has a NWOW via hardware/software solutions and they are in lower KS2- we are updating their EHCp.  The difficulty is trying to future proof possible future provisions but without being too general? It may be a while until it is updated again!

Hi Kate.  This is a bit tricky as access arrangements can vary year on year, so I am not sure having too much specificity in the EHCP would be helpful?  How about covering this with a phrase, such as "Access arrangements that reflect X's normal way of working to be applied for, including the use any assistive technology (hardware and software) they have been using on a regular basis, such as... (list the particular items) X's normal way of working to be monitored so that they continue to have access to the appropriate adaptations and equipment as they approach their exams"  Not sure if this is the 'right' answer - just our thoughts from Essex!  Would be interested to hear what is decided...

More concisely, my colleague has suggested this:
<div>'Consideration must be given to Examinations Access Arrangements so that these are well practiced and established as a normal way of working' or perhaps, 'Where adaptations are the established normal way of working, Examinations Access Arrangements must be considered/ sought to accommodate this'.</div>
