Speechnotes is a useful free website/app that can be used for dictation. I'm not sure how well it works for Maths, however it is free so it might be worth giving it a go.

Docs Plus (Cricksoft) is a Secondary version of Clicker 7, you can upload exam papers into it.  They will come out and demonstrate it for you if you contact them.

Also Snaptype is a brilliant app for android or apple devices.  You take a screenshot of any worksheets and then you can type straight onto it, move the text around and then save and/or print it out.

We have had a pupil use Dragon for GCSE and he is just about to finish his A level exams using it too. We got an unlimited full site licence around 4 years ago for about £1000 - not cheap, but since then we have easily got good value out of it, with staff as well as pupils using it. We found getting the right microphone made a big difference with both Dragon and the other voice recognition options. We used this for a standalone mic and used this for a headset.

In terms of exams, applying for exam use was fairly straightforward and you can have 25% extra time with it. Where a pupil already had 25% extra time for other reasons, we managed to make a case for additional time beyond this. We also found where there was an English paper with a large amount of SPaG marks, we were able to arrange a coursework alternative which avoided the issues of spelling everything out or automatically losing those marks.

With Dragon you can save your profile and export/import to another computer. We found this a bit fiddly the first couple of times so if you take that route then I recommend you/your IT person try it a few times first to be sure you have the hang of it (rather than try to do it on the morning of GCSE controlled assessment like we did!) In the 3-4 years we have been using it, that has been the only thing we found difficult.

I hope that helps!

I have to say that I have found the built in iPad is pretty good. Especially for searching. The problem is when you have someone who's speech varies a lot through tiredness and then voice recognition can go to pot.
