Hi

I would just like to make you all aware of some free resources availble on my TES Resources Shop: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/PhonicsforSEN

You might be particularly interested in free assessment materials for use with pupils who are non-verbal.  Specifically the tests and assessment materials cover the following key aspects of reading and spelling:

  • blending
  • segmenting
  • knowledge of the sound > grapheme (sound spelling) correspondence
  • knowledge ot the grapheme (sound spelling) > sound correspondence
  • reading high frequency words
  • spelling high frequency words

There is also a Progress Tracker which auto-calculates progress in relation to ARE and key stages of reading and spelling development at assessment points of you own choosing.

Although these relate to my Phonics for Pupils with Special Educational Needs programme, you would find them useful whatever programme you are using.

I have just completed work on adapting the Phonics for SEN programme to by accessible for pupils who are non-verbal, who have significant fine motor difficulties / physical disabilties and for pupils who have both of these challenges.  I am in the testing phase and as soon as I am confident that the access strategies are successful I will be making this document available on my TES page.

If you would like more information about the programme there is a link below:

I also am on Facebook, Instagram , Twitter and have a Youtube channel with bite-size phonics training videos.

Thanks, Ann
