I am trying to put together some resources for SENCOs of ideas on 1) low cost accessible/adaptive equipment to support PD students across the curriculum (especially secondary), anything from more specialist equipment for PD to general items that are just really useful (eg suction bowl in cooking!); 2)next-to-no cost adaptions that can be made to equipment (eg gluing a small door knob to  a protractor for an easier hold).

I am also trying to put together some ideas for support staff (again particularly in secondary school) in how they can make small changes to make learning more accessible for students with PD through having a 'tool box' of ideas and resources (ie instead of the student showing spelling through writing, having letter cards to spell words or showing the answer to a maths problem with number cards instead of writing  so in their 'toolbox' they could have number/letter cards;).   While lots of students are benefiting from using IT to support them also, I want to remind support staff that there are lots of alternatives to IT also, when needed!

Any ideas for either of the above would be brilliant- no idea is too small/big/alternative!

In Essex we recommend creating an 'expanded ruler', which is basically a piece of perspex with a ruler stuck to the top so a learner with hemi, for example, can use their entire weaker arm to stabilise it and draw the line with the other hand.  Secondary school DT departments can help with these.
