Hi all

Does anyone have any useful resources or tips I can share with a school around preparing a year 6 girl for starting her periods? She has SMA and needs full support with personal care, they want to support her to prepare for this time and are also asking for any practical advice for managing this in school with dignity.

Many thanks

Just found a few resources online but maybe it would be a good idea to involve the OT/school nurse, a trusted staff member and, of course, the girl herself in discussions around this.  School just needs to follow good general hygiene processes - not sure if there is anything in the DfE guidance on supporting children with medical needs specifically around this but it would be good to get this included in her daily HCP/intimate care plan.  We have some general Intimate Care for Schools guidance on the Essex Schools Infolink
