I'm looking at our training offer for placements from EY to FE and wondered what other LAs offer to schools in order to meet the needs of C&YP with a physical disability or medical need.

It would be useful to know if your training is offered free of charge to placements or traded.

Thanks

In Hull we offer specific disability awareness training (e.g. new pupil in new school),  initial software training to key staff (e.g. Clicker) and moving and handling training for key staff 'free' as part of the core offer to all Hull schools. General moving and handling training, evac-chair staff training, advertised INSET training ('Developing gross and fine motor skills in pre-school and primary settings' and 'Inclusive PE practices' are on offer this year) and larger scale in-house INSET training are all traded (at very reasonable prices)

Hi - in Essex we offer our 'Access for All' course 3 times per year across the county which is by invitation only and free.  Schools can send 2 people and they have to have a child in the school on our caseload.  We have stopped our paid-for courses on Gym Trail and Fine Motor skills etc, as we were finding that schools couldn't afford it and it was too far for some to travel (Essex is a very big county!)  We are now trialling some workshops which we are offering to schools for free and will be delivered at their convenience - so far we are offering, Gym Trail, P.E and Supporting Handwriting.  Again, schools can access that directly through our team as long as there is a child on caseload at the school.  We are also exploring the use of webinars although encountering some difficulties in getting these going due to changes in the service.  We don't currently offer moving and handling but we do support use of Clicker and will do whole school training about specific conditions, etc if this is wanted by the school.

In Warwickshire training around the specific needs of an individual child is still free, however, more general capacity building and curriculum related training is costed.

In Barnet we offer M&H awareness and bespoke  training on request and dependent on team's capacity . We also offer disability awareness generic & specific training. We have now started to offer a fine motor skills programme as OTs are no longer able to do it! None of the above is traded...Yet!
