A bright 5 year old with a significant tremor is clearly struggling with pencil control. The OT is working on ways to limit the impact of this, however I think she also needs increased access to technology in order to successfully and independently record her ideas. I am unsure what route to go down. Any advice regarding hardware -computer/laptop with keycard , mouse, tablet etc and settings as well as software would be extremely helpful. Many thanks
Depending on the severity of the tremor, typing can be problematic and very effort full for the pupil as well as very time consuming.
Key guards can help and we have a full sized external keyboard with key guard used by some pupils. This has the advantage that if they are in a room with a desktop (e.g. ICT suite) they can use the class computer and thus only need to move the keyboard around with them. This model seems to work well:

Voice to text software with a noise cancelling microphone might allow the pupil to dictate to the computer for at least some of their work thereby allowing faster production of work and avoiding some of the fatigue issues that can arise with manual recording.

A while ago, I found this software https://www.steadymouse.com/ and was wondering if anyone had any experience of it. Unfortunately at the time it didn't work with Chromebooks so I didn't actually try it.
Would be interested in people's thoughts though

You could try British Assistive Technology Association for a range of ideas - https://www.bataonline.org.uk/

Information about this piece of tech has literally just dropped into my inbox

It will allow you to use a mouse alternative to access the onscreen keyboard on an i-pad but it also has an anti tremor filter built in.
Seems worth a look.
