I have a family who I support with a child in a mainstream setting who is a fulltime wheelchair user. They are having huge difficulties trying to access wraparound care that is putting a huge strain on them emotionally and financially. The provider is an outside company that run the care on the school site, they are saying they cannot have her there as they can't provide 1:1 support like she has in school hours. Is their anything that can be done?

They are also having difficulty accessing holiday clubs and have contacted the local authorities group that provide holiday care for pupils with a disability but they can only offer random days and hours.

Hi Kirsty, this is a tricky one, isn't it?  I have discussed with colleagues here and we feel that the company is being discriminatory and in breach of the Equality Act 2010,  so the parents might have a case to complain to Ofsted (if that is who oversees them), but would they want to?  Personally I feel the school should take some responsibility, as they are allowing this company to operate on their premises presumably...

I am not sure what to suggest regarding the summer clubs etc, other than maybe could they join with something that any of the special schools may be offering?  Or contact Social Care?  In Essex we have Essex Short Breaks but I assume this is something similar to what you are already referring to.
