Hello all - just wondering if any of you had experience/advice re assistance dogs in school for reasons other than supporting a student with VI.

Many thanks

Hi Hannah We’ve had an Assistance Dog for a learner with PD in a Warwickshire school. Head was very supportive but I did have to attend a Governor’s meeting to persuade Governors that it wasn’t an LA stealth plan to make TAs redundant! It was a great success and pupil benefited hugely. The pupil spoke at an LA conference about her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and put her success down to her increased self confidence resulting from her Assistance Dog.
