Hi

I am part of the working group currently writing and developing the pdnet Level 2 training. I am working on the section that includes information about moving and handling / manual handling. I am trying to source a link to a really good online resource that shows the basic principles of moving and handling children.  There are heaps of resources on moving inanimate objects and adults but nothing specific to children.  Does anyone know of any gems?

Please note these need to be links to freely available online resources that can be read on screen not books or leaflets or anything that needs to be purchased. I know the book NBE Manual Handling of Children is fab but we can't expect people to buy resources.

Thanks in anticipation

Ann (and the Level 2 team)

Hi Ann

There is little out there as this is a commercial area and people don't put information up on the internet that they'd rather you paid for!

Hi Ann,

This is our experience too.  However, the basic principles are the same as an inanimate object, with specific advise related to the child they are working with being given by appropriate professionals who know the child's ability, eg Physio.

Hi Ann

There won't be much for free specific to children. General 'back awareness' guidelines would be useful but for specific handling of children staff really should have the appropriate training.

I think I am hoping for the impossible... a free, non-scary overview of the principles of moving CYP for a TA new to the support role can get a handle on the basics.

Was worth a try!

Thanks
