Does anyone have a document they would mind sharing that very specifically outlines a school's reasonable adjustment expectations e.g. I am thinking access to accessible transport for school trips, access to swimming, purchasing of low level IT.. (and would you expect such costs to come out of the schools notional SEN budget?)

(and a secondary question-does anyone use such a document to decide about case allocations?)

Many thanks, Kate

I think in terms of trips etc it would be clsssed as discrimination not to accommodate. For IcT it comes from school budget and I used to recommend AT as part of local authority PD outreach. It was a bit hit and miss. I would often loan stuff long term if I thought school wouldn’t buy. I think it also depends on level of disability in my experience. So if they could Manage some writing then the purchase of a laptop or stuff I recommended wasn’t as urgent. However if this was only way they could access it tended to be high priority. This info may be dated but this is just my experience. Parental pressure helped and I always involved parents in reporting etc.

Also I don’t think the reasonable adjustment thing is always clear and it’s open to interpretation. The local authority inclusion toolkit would suggest options and has a great new tool called vsend which signposts but I’m really not sure who policies the whole thing. And what one school puts into practice and manages well and is commonplace, another school may not have experienced the same level of send pupils or had training
