Hello.

Does anyone know of a school/college/nursery that is using a stair climber to enable wheelchair access within the setting? In Kent, we attended a demonstration yesterday by a company: thestairclimbingcompany.com and I just wondered if anyone could give an insight into

 • the usability of the stair climber
 • the ongoing support from the company
 • who paid for the stair climber - the setting or County?

Any insight/thoughts would be really appreciated.

Thank you

A student (Secondary) on our caseload, uses a stair climber for evacuation purposes. The school purchased it directly, therefore i have no insight regarding the company's ongoing support.

The stair climber has a Safe Working Load (SLW) of 200kg which is 31.5 stone. Our students powered wheelchair weights 20 stone. So its worth baring in mind the young persons weight and weight of their wheelchair, when looking at stair climbers.
