Hi. I am just wondering if anyone knows of, or has developed their own checklist or flowchart to 'assess' the skills that a child needs to be able to effectively use IT in the classroom (particuarly younger children who may be using IT as a method of learning/recording their work for the first time). I am thinking of all the things the child needs to be able to do (ie not just the typing bit but the whole understanding of interactions/cause and effect, physical skills, cognitive skills, sequencing, use of mouse/touch pad etc). I am sure I have seen a document around (I think it was designed for switch access which had a step by step assessment) but having done a search haven't been able to locate anything. Any advice thoughts would be wonderful..

Hello, For me, ICT skills Are really personalised and based on each individuals accessibility method. Also, it would really depend on the age, interests and personal needs of the pupil as well as cognition. I would look towards an assistive technology expert to support you with any individuals And really focus on What barriers the ICT is going to remove in somebody’s life.
