We are currently supporting a pupil with Achondroplasia, who is taking music. The pupil is a drummer and wants to pursue this further. Does anyone have any experience of working with any organisations who could advise on seating, drums suitable in terms of height and reach, and advice on how they could manage their grip on the drumsticks for extended playing?

Any advise would be gratefully received.

Many thanks, Jo

Hi
Foam grips like Abiligrips could make the drum sticks easier to hold.
you may be able to access support from the following:
Little People UK - www.littlepeopleuk.org
Restricted Growth Association - www.rgauk.org
Christophe Zajac-Denek is an American actor, drummer and advocate for people with restricted growth - it might be worth contacting him direct as I'm sure he would want to help - www.christophezd.com
Thanks
Rob
