Hello,

I am enquiring as to whether anyone has a child who has been granted within their EHCP,  the ability to attend NICE- National Institute for Conductive Education alongside their mainstream setting perhaps on a one day a week basis.

What have been the positives or negatives of this arrangement for all concerned?

Any feedback very much appreciated.

Clare

hi

We used to have several students who did this especially in Year R. Clearly it is a difficult one and the authority I worked in would not put conductive education establishments into EHCP plans because they thought there was insufficient academic research to demonstrate the benefit. Clearly it is for each school and family to make it's mind up in each individual case . Most headteachers I worked with would put it in the register as 'education other than at school' .The downsides are continuity in both settings, different expectations and a seperate peer group.

On the whole, I used to find they were all in full time school for the beginning of year 1.
