Staff in our school are finding it difficult to position pupils on their physio wedges. We lower pupils using the hoist at the 'head' end and position the pupils firstly on their backs. We're struggling to turn the pupils over with ease on to their fronts with arms over the raised top part. We've tried using the slide sheet and roll inch by inch, keeping the pupil safe and central on the wedge,  but pupils end up slipping lower down the slope. I'm hoping someone knows a more effective technique.

Can you use the hoist to help?  If you initially lower the pupil as close to one side of the wedge as possible (on their back) then one person hold them in place while the other takes the loops off the side of the spreader opposite the edge they are on.  You can then raise the hoist further and as the sling lifts the pupil will tun onto their side towards the middle of the wedge, it might need another slide across to the same side they were originally at to be able to get them into a prone position in the centre of the wedge but the hoist will do most of the work for you.

Physios should be able to help with this if you are unsure.
